We usually eat breakfast and dinner in the RV and have lunch out. So we do not know much about dinner restaurants. We
also avoid having lunch in places where there is waiter service. We are in Europe to see things, not to take a lot
of time to eat. Our usual in Amsterdam is to grab a bite from a street vendor or in a sidewalk cafe. Ron loves
the fried fish or the buttery Dutch
nieuwe haring (new herring). Adelle likes the fried potatoes, which much better than our
french fries, and are called
Vlaamse Frites in this part of the world. She also likes the vegetarian Mediteranean style
pitas. And both of us like the fried chicken in
Febo's, a chain that offers food in little coin-operated compartments similar
to the now long defunct Horn and Hardout Cafeterias that used to be in New York City.
Dutch pancakes also make a very nice
lunch. Many sidewalk cafes serve them.
To supplement our meager experience in this area, we offer you links to several
websites that provide reviews of Amsterdam restaurants.
